TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH’s new Handbike 2020 had its perfect debut in the hands of Andrea Eskau last weekend. The ‘tigress’ made it two victories from two races in the UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships in Emmen, Netherlands. After winning the Time Trial on Friday, Andrea romped home another gold medal in the 51.8km Road Race on Sunday. In the 20.8kms Time Trial, Andrea managed to set an average speed of more than 35kph.
Andrea was naturally very happy with this result and the new handbike: “I would like to thank TMG for its commitment to the Tokyo Bike. It was definitely a key to success at the World Championships and the most photographed handbike. The strength of the bike enabled me to win two world championship titles. Thanks for that!”
For Andrea and the newly-built handbike, the UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships were an essential part in the preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics where she will be racing the TMG Handbike 2020 on the Fuji Speedway. Apart from that, Andrea has also been selected as one of approx. 240 ‘Global Team Toyota Athletes’.
