The updated TMG EV P002 is ready for its track testing debut as it prepares to defend its electric title in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

After the electric powertrain was already upgraded by TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG), the record-breaking car was shipped to TOYOTA Racing Development USA for aerodynamic modifications.

Wind tunnel testing in North Carolina earlier this week confirmed a significant downforce gain, with results indicating a good aerodynamic balance has been achieved.

The TMG team has already touched down in the US and is at TRD USA headquarters in Salisbury, North Carolina to prepare the electric powertrain for track testing.

In a few hours a shakedown will take place before the track test tomorrow at Carolina Motorsport Park, where multiple Pikes Peak champion Rod Millen will drive the TMG EV P002 for the first time.

Pikes Peak International Hill Climb takes place on 30 June in Colorado with TMG and TRD USA aiming to improve on the electric record of 10minutes 15.380seconds which the TMG EV P002 set in 2012.
